Help Protect Our Coast

Help us oppose the Coastal Commission’s approval of Southern California Edison’s plan to demolish San Onofre spent fuel pools.

Spent fuel pools could be used to contain radiation in an emergency and provide a safe location to repair or replace damaged storage canisters.

Open Letter to California Leaders: Where is the Action on Nuclear Waste?

We stand for the secure containment of radioactive material to ensure the protection of our environment, economy and way of life.

California Tsunami Alert Was Wake-Up Call on San Onofre Flood Risk

The tsunami advisory that woke up the West Coast on Jan. 15 should serve as a wake-up call on flooding dangers at the nuclear waste storage facility in San Onofre.

The facility is 100 feet from the beach. During high tides, waves crash into an aging bulkhead that separates the sea from the storage vault – a kind of crypt that holds 3.6 million pounds of deadly, radioactive waste. According to Southern California Edison, the sprawling, concrete vault will flood from a storm at high tide.
